16 Hour First Aid

We are pleased to offer a 16hr first course for Girlguiding Ulster leaders.

This in depth first aid course will focus on first aid for managing casualties outdoors. The course includes a range of topics, practical activities, and scenarios based on real life situations.

This course includes two face to face training sessions:

Session 1: Sat 4 February 9-6pm (includes lunch break)

Session 2: Sun 5 February 9-6pm (includes lunch break)

Participants need to attend both sessions in order to complete the course and receive their certificate. Participants should bring their own lunch and drinks to the training sessions.

Who can attend?

Any leader aged 18+ who wants to either complete the course for the first time or renew their first aid qualification.

This course is intended for leaders who:

  • Want to complete the Girlguiding Walking Scheme Level 2 and / or 3 (or equivalent)
  • Currently support or plan to support Bronze, Silver, or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions

Is there a cost?

Yes, Girlguiding Ulster have generously subsidised the course. The course cost for Girlguiding Ulster members is £25.

Note: the course fee and travel expenses are legitimate unit expenses, and you may be able to claim course costs from your unit.

Can leaders from other uniformed organisations attend the training?

Yes, Girlguiding members will be given first priority. However, if there are free spaces available, then non members can book. The course cost for non-members is £80. If booking from another organisation, please add the organisation name and your unit / section details in the comments section when booking.

Is this the same as the First Response course?

No, this is a separate course.

The First Response course is suitable for most volunteers (including young leaders) and is free. If you need to complete a First Response course, please check the main training page for upcoming First Response courses instead.
